Notice of an Environment Assessment Commencement

The City of Clarence-Rockland is initiating a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to address the future requirements of the St. Jean Street-Poupart Road corridor. The corridor presently serves as a primary route that accommodates both local and regional traffic.

South Nation Conservation Updated Floodplain and Erosion Maps

South Nation Conservation (SNC) invites residents to attend an in-person Open House to learn more about floodplain and erosion hazard maps for areas along the Ottawa River, East of the City of Ottawa, within the City of Clarence-Rockland and the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet.

Residents living near or along the river will be able to view property-specific maps to help better understand the risks to life and property in these areas and provide feedback on the mapping.

Thawing Period Restrictions

February 27, 2023 - This year, the load restrictions for the thawing period will be in effect as of Friday, March 3, 2023. This measure is intended to minimize the impact of temperature variations on our road infrastructure by reducing the transport’s weight and will be lifted as soon as conditions allow.

Carbon monoxide alarms save lives

Following an incident that occurred in the municipality, the City of Clarence-Rockland Fire Department reiterates the importance of keeping your home's carbon monoxide alarms functional. 

"Carbon monoxide is colourless, odourless and tasteless. It is known as the silent killer for a reason. If your carbon monoxide alarm goes off, never assume it's a false alarm and unplug it. Call 9-1-1 immediately, no matter what time of day or night," said Mario Villeneuve, Fire Chief for the municipality.
